A show July 4 by Morris Day and the Time has been added to the Fair St. Louis concert lineup, sharing a bill with the previously announced Kool & the Gang.
Fair
St. Louis is July 2-4 at Art Hill in Forest Park. It’s the second year
there as renovations continue at the Gateway Arch grounds, the event’s
usual home.
Morris Day and the Time, of Minneapolis, is known for
hits such as “Jungle Love,” “Cool,” “The Bird” and “777-9311” and was
featured in Prince’s movie “Purple Rain.”
The Time features University City musician Jeffrey Mak on keyboards.
Also
new to this year’s Fair St. Louis: a zip line along Lagoon Drive at the
base of the Grand Basin. Zip lining will take place during daylight
hours all three days.
At the Family Festival Zone, an interactive
exhibit by the Science and Citizens Organized for Purpose and
Exploration organization, will showcase science and technology resources
in our own back yards.
The 133rd annual Veiled Prophet Parade steps off at 9:45 a.m. July 4. The fair will wrap up with nightly fireworks displays.
The
additional programming was announced Thursday morning at the St. Louis
Convention and Visitor’s Commission’s “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town”
event at Ballpark Village.
Other previously announced music acts
are Natalie Stovall and the Drive, Parmalee and Chris Young on July 2
and Blondie and Melissa Etheridge on July 3.
Additional names will be announced later.
